Concrete Cuts Costs

While advancements in asphalt technology such as “SuperPave” mixtures have increased paving costs significantly, advancements in concrete technology have reduced the cost of concrete paving while greatly improving performance. Federally funded studies show that concrete interstate pavements cost 13-28% less in the long run than asphalt interstate pavements. One University of Minnesota study found that using concrete pavement saved two counties up to 19% in long-term costs and 75% in maintenance costs.

Concrete is Better for Everyone

You aren’t the only one who will benefit from choosing concrete for your paving project. Concrete is better for your government, your city and everyone living in it. To start with, no other paving material approaches concrete’s strength and durability when it comes to withstanding heavy usage and truck traffic. Federally funded studies show that, on average, concrete interstate highways in the US last 2.5 times longer than asphalt interstate highways. This increased durability results in fewer ruts and potholes, which improves road safety, cuts down on delays and reduces pavement vehicle interaction (PVI), one of the main causes of excess fuel consumption. Excess fuel consumption (EFC) costs drivers, states and municipalities money. EFC is also detrimental to the environment.
