CONCRETE FOR OUR WATER

Concrete is Safer

According to the National Highway Traffic Administration, someone in the US is involved in a car accident every minute of the day. While many of the circumstances leading to these accidents are out of our control, we can take preventative measures to ensure our roads are not a contributing factor. Compared to asphalt, concrete provides better visibility on rainy nights. It’s generally less slippery in wet weather and offers better, longer-lasting skid resistance. Concrete is also stronger. No other paving material approaches concrete’s durability when it comes to standing up to heavy usage. This means fewer ruts or potholes that could cause you to lose control of your vehicle.

Lighter is Brighter

According to a study conducted at the University of Louisville, concrete is up to three times more reflective than asphalt. Since the lighter pavement is naturally brighter, it reduces the amount of lighting needed by 30%. This is important not only for safety on the road, but also for peace of mind around your city. A study conducted in New York found that areas with better lighting experienced significantly lower crime rates. It also concluded that increased levels of lighting led to a 36% decrease in more serious crimes like aggravated assault, robbery and murder.
